LUNCH

In the middle of winter there are not many places open to each lunch.  Each of these remains open year round because the food and service are good enough to generate the local dollars to stay open (except Tortugas and they close for 2 months because they want to)  So when you are ready for your midday repast here are some places you might find us
Country Deli
The best sandwichs east of Jockeys Ridge is the motto of this hole in the wall deli in Surfside Plaza in Nags Head.  Great sandwiches with great names.  The "I wouldn't brisket" is my favorite.  The best thing about this place is that you don't even need to know where it is call 441-5684 and they deliver to you.  Print their menu before you come down and you can order from your cottage

TortugasCaribean flair on the Beach Rd.  Tortugas is the place to each for Gen X in Nags Head and there is a lot for Boomers and above as well.  Good food with great seafood specials.  Try the Big Wave Dave sandwich or stop by Wed. nightTortugas Lie, Nags Head for sushi.  The bar is always busy as well.  This is a small place and very lively so leave your pretensions at home and have a great time.

Links Grille at Nags Head Golf Links Some might suspect that this pick has more to do with the fact that Carole was the accountant for the Golf Links than the food.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  If fishing piers are the perfect place for breakfast then soundside golf courses are the right place for lunch.  You cannot beat the view of the sound and the 9th hole.  Just relax and enjoy a leisurely meal.  The menu features soup, salads and sandwiches with daily specials adding to the mix.  Chef Kevin does a wonderful job of finding the freshest seafood and preparing it in interesting ways.  This place is a little out of the way and not a lot of locals come in but those who do come back often.

Bacu Grille, Nags Head  OK so maybe its not Little Havana but Bacu is a close to Cuba as I want to get (except for Key West).  This eatery by the Outer Banks Mall serves Cuban and Caribean specialties including Cuban pulled pork.  Wonderful lunch specials and a great brunch on Sundays.  Stop by for entertainment on Sundays as well.
