BREAKFAST
I was taught that breakfast is the most important meal
of the day. These 5 places all do it justice.
Nags Head Pier The consumate pIer house restaurant. Good
food. Great views. Arrive early because you will have to wait but it will
be worth it. You may see everyone from the police chief to a group trying
to cure their hangover from the all night binge. Stop there at least once
during your stay.
Sam and Omies. I guess you could call Whalebone
Junction Breakfast Juntiion just as easily since 2 of our top 5 breakfast
spots are in that area. This restaurant was started to prepare breakfast
for fishermen leaving early to go fishing with Sam and Omie Tillet.
That tradition continues. Truthfully it could be on the list for
all 3 meals but breakfast
is a special treat. A great place for a Bloody mary and an omelet
or for herring roe (in season) Great local atmosphere and color, wonderful
servers. You can always check out who is sitting at the "family table"
by the kitchen door. It is reserved for regulars and always occupied.
Enjoy.
The Dunes Restaurant. The Dunes is to breakfast what its neighbor Owens is to dinner.
The Standard. These folks serve more breakfast than all the other
restuarants put together. Roxie and Rufus Pritchard love there customers
and the service shows that as well. For a family breakfast there
is no better place.
Stop Quick Market; Located just south of the Kill Devil
Hills line this convenience stores sells the best biscuits on the beach
bar none. Bob's favorite is a Cheese biscuit with egg and sausage
(sorry Mom). Good coffee, great people. You may have to wait
a few minutes while all the construction workers get their breakfast but
its worth it.
Bob's Grille These folks just moved about a mile south of there old location but the food and attitude is still the same. Breakfast is served all day long and well into the night. The food is good but the best thing about Bob's Grille is the Motto "Eat and get the Hell out"
